The best way to find accommodation is to drive to the scenic spot

Some friends will pester the guidebook when they travel by car. In fact, the guidebook does not play a very important role. Usually, you just need to determine the direction of your destination, and you don't need to do any guidebooks.

(Photographed by the author of Bayinbruger)

for instance. In 2018, the author's husband and wife drove a car to Xinjiang alone without inviting a companion. Before departure, there was once a guidebook that was printed out, but it was put at the bottom of the box all the way without looking at it. It's useless.

Driving out of Xinjiang, such a super long distance, accommodation is as important as eating. Everyone knows that the rest is bad, and driving is naturally bad. We are "bed carts". It is of course a matter of how to find a camp when we live in the car.

Since you choose to travel by car, you have a big heart and are not afraid of difficulties. There are also fears. When I first started, I didn't know whether the self driving tour could be counted as 72 lines plus one line. Anyway, I often wondered and worried about where to stay at night and whether there was any danger. Later, after years of collision between the north and the south, my heart was slightly relaxed, as if I had accumulated some "feelings". I dare not say experience, but only feelings. Especially in the first year (2017), I drove myself to Tibet, and gradually, I seem to have found a little way out. This time, when I went to Xinjiang, the author used a new method that I found: go straight to the scenic spot, and use it to solve the problem of finding a place for self driving travel accommodation. Personally, it still works.

What does it mean to go straight to the scenic spot? Look at the picture first:

20221229_116_597119_1_2.jpeg

(Nanchang to Hami)

Drive from Xinjiang, Nanchang to Hami, more than 2500 kilometers. Suppose that at an average speed of 70km (70km is the allowable speed for many sections of the national highway), it takes at least 5 days to run more than 2500km every day at 400-500km without burning midnight oil or taking high-speed roads. It takes about 6-7 hours to drive a car in one day. The author divides it into more than 3 hours in the morning and more than 3 hours in the afternoon.

Just now, the guidebook has no effect. Explain.

We also take self driving in Xinjiang as an example. Suppose someone drives to Xinjiang from Shanghai, Guangzhou and Kunming. How can I get there? Use navigation. There is no doubt about that. So, how will the navigation go? In fact, navigation corresponds to the above choice of departure place, and there are only three directions to enter Xinjiang:

1. Hami direction (including Beijing Inner Mongolia G7 Expressway)

2. In the Ruoqiang direction,

3. In the direction of Yecheng.

20221229_116_700864_2_3.jpeg

(Entering Xinjiang from these three locations)

There is no doubt that the navigation system has the ability to choose the nearest and most feasible direction.

For Kunming, the starting point, it will not point to enter Xinjiang from Yecheng (the black line above), because it is inappropriate to pass through Tibet. It is known that it is unnecessary to choose the Qinghai Tibet Plateau for self driving tourism in Xinjiang. In the direction of Ruoqiang (the green dotted line above), if you go from Tibet, it is equivalent to "Yunnan goes in and Qinghai goes out", or "Sichuan goes in and Qinghai goes out". However, the route from Xi'an and Lanzhou to Ruoqiang can be considered, because it is appropriate to enter Xinjiang from this route, and choose the southern Xinjiang first, and then the northern Xinjiang to drive Xinjiang. The route must be from the direction of Dachaidan, not from the direction of Lhasa. After entering Xinjiang, you can leave from Hami without turning back.

In fact, the navigation system generally does not choose the Yecheng direction and Ruoqiang direction just mentioned, because these two roads are not easy to walk. The navigation points are mostly from Xi'an to Lanzhou, and then directly to Hami (the red line above). The logical reason for navigation is that this road is flat and easy to walk. Hami is in the north of Xinjiang. If you want to leave Xinjiang from Ruoqiang, it is very convenient. You can consider playing in the north first and then going to the south.

It seems a little complicated. Simplify it:

Self driving in Xinjiang, you can choose the way of entering and leaving without turning back. There is only one way to go, that is, Hami Ruoqiang, Ruoqiang Hami.

If you are willing to go back, in fact, many people go back, there is nothing wrong. That is, Ruoqiang goes in – Ruoqiang goes out, and Hami goes in – Hami goes out.

So, so simple, is the guidebook meaningful?

As for tourism in Xinjiang, friends can choose according to their own time.

(somewhere in Xinjiang)

Looking back, let's talk about the way of accommodation going straight to the scenic spot, that is, "how to find a campsite". It is also not that complicated. It is not as mysterious as some friends say. In fact, there is not much technical content in finding campsites.

There are two kinds of self driving travel accommodation, one is hotel accommodation, the other is car accommodation. For example, RV and "bed" car, they need to find campsites and parking lots.

Since the road to Xinjiang is far away, we suggest that you go straight to the scenic spot and choose a place to stay overnight.

What is the direct way to the scenic spot? for instance.

The author is a person from Nanchang who drives himself in Xinjiang. From the navigation data, we selected the first destination from Nanchang to Hami, Xinjiang: Xinyang, Henan, more than 500 kilometers. Of course, we can also go to other places in the same direction according to our own needs. The direction remains the same. In the middle, where you want to live, you can control the rhythm.

It's right to guide Xinyang. Then, where can I go to Xinyang? This is what you care about most.

Answer: Go directly to the scenic spot.

(Xinyang Nanwan Lake Scenic Area)

Going to scenic spots has its advantages. At least, we should not go into the city. Even if we want to stay in hotels, we should not go into the city. Around the city and in small towns, we can meet people's accommodation needs. In the city, the traffic is crowded and there are too many red lights. It's hard to find a parking lot. It may cost more money. Directions: Go to the outside area of the city. You can't walk many more roads. There must be free parking space. If possible, you can also visit the scenic spot in two days before departure.

You've gone to one more place.

(Qianxian County, Xinyang, Henan Province, Shaanxi Province)

Another example:

Walking out of Xinyang, the author chooses Qianxian County, Shaanxi Province, about 700 kilometers away. Choice is our right to travel.

Why go to Qianxian County instead of Xi'an? This is because, 1, the author has been to Xi'an many times, 2, Qianxian County, and has never been there. Qianxian County has the tombs of the Tang Dynasty and Empress Wu. If you have the opportunity, you can use half a day or less to pay a visit.

The car was stationed in Qianxian County the night before. It took only a few hours to visit the vast Qianling Tomb in two days.

Go up again, more than 500 kilometers from Qianxian County to Lanzhou.

(From Qianxian County to Lanzhou)

When arriving in Lanzhou, do not enter the urban area. There are many vehicles and narrow streets in Lanzhou.

On both sides of Lanzhou River, the busiest place is near Zhongshan Bridge. It is recommended to park here in Baitashan Park and take a walk in the city at night. Zhongshan Bridge spans the Yellow River and is a landscape park along the river. The night scene is very beautiful.

(Both banks of a river)

Don't park in the city. It's hard to find a parking place in the city. On the other side of the river, there are Xujiashan National Forest Park, Longtoushan Forest Ecological Park, and Wuyi Forest Ecological Tourism Area (red circle above) just near Baitashan Park, with abundant parking spaces. This area belongs to the suburbs (personal understanding), with few people and few cars.

Leave Lanzhou, go ahead, pass Wuwei and enter Zhangye.

2

(Lanzhou to Zhangye)

Lanzhou to Zhangye is less than 500 kilometers.

Zhangye is very important for travelers. The tourism resources and scenic spots in Zhangye are basically five-star level. If you come to Zhangye, don't miss them. The purpose of this article is to exchange self driving travel experience without introducing scenic spots and scenic spots. If you want to know about Zhangye, you can refer to relevant materials, which can be found on the Internet and in the works below.

In a word, Zhangye is an area where travelers must punch in. We should remember this.

(Some photos of Zhangye)

The above prayer roller is said to be the largest prayer roller in the world. On that day, the author and some tourists, about 6-7 people, turned it.

The scenic spots are free of charge, and there are almost no common commercial troubles in the mainland. Zhangye has a cool climate without summer. When I arrived in Zhangye by car, I suggested two days of sightseeing, but one day is definitely not enough. The author has been to Zhangye for the second time, and will still choose to spend the summer in Zhangye in the future.

Go further My friends must be tired of reading, so let's stop here for this episode, and go to Jiayuguan and Dunhuang for the next episode, and then enter the theme of Xinjiang tour. Thank you for watching.

(This collection, Self driving Tours, Couples' "Bed Car" Tour Around Xinjiang (2018), is estimated to have 20 chapters. The author will show the routes of self driving tours in Xinjiang, the equipment he practices, the author's living conditions, how to eat and live, and of course, the cost. At the same time, a large number of pictures taken by ourselves will be provided for readers.)
